Hi Ady,
I thought I would share a perspective on this topic, as sure it may interest others. I started my career in CCEP in field sales. I moved from a sales role in a Commercial department at a football club and remember when applying to CCEP that I didn't have FMCG experience but there were a number of transversal skills which applied to both. At the time it was important to show passion for the brand, ability to build client relationships, and creative problem solving. Over ten years, and 8 different roles later, I'm in a global role looking after innovative technology! On paper, this couldn't seem further away from Field Sales, which I hope goes to show with the right mindset to learning new skills and building on your strengths, you can forge your own path. My one piece of advice, don't forget to talk about strengths you'd like to strengthen in any role. As an interviewer it is great hearing how people want to learn and grow... Good luck!
